To ensure your mascara lasts as long as possible, avoid pumping the brush in and out. This allows air and bacteria to get into the bottle, causing the texture to spoil more quickly and making it unusable. Another no-go: wiping the brush on the edge. This is where the texture collects and dries out. When you pull it out, clumps get onto the brush and stick your eyelashes together. Better: pull the brush out once with a twisting motion, wipe off excess mascara on a soft cosmetic tissue and apply it with a zigzag motion. Then put the brush back in the bottle with a twisting motion.
